Bill Tilley was elected the member for Benambra in 2006, and was re-elected in 2010.

Bill has a number of qualifications including an Advanced Certificate in Investigation, a Certificate IV in Frontline Management and has completed the Victoria Police’s Constables Course.

A Police Officer in the Wodonga Traffic Management Unit before being elected to parliament, Bill also served in the Army. While in the Army he held positions with the Royal Australian Corps Military Police and the Army Special Investigations Branch.

Through his role in the Victoria Police Bill has worked at the coalface of social issues and with people throughout his community. Bill has a first-hand understanding of the needs and concerns of the people of Wodonga and the townships throughout Benambra.

He was elevated to a frontbench position in February 2008, becoming the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Police & Emergency services as the result of the formation of the Coalition in Victoria. In 2010, Bill was the Parliamentary Secretary for Police and Emergency Services between September 2010 and October 2011.
